If you are using a supported GPU and driver, like today's version 451.48, you will see an option to enable 'Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.' To enable GPU Scheduling in Windows 10 2004, you can go to Settings > System > Display and click on Graphics Settings. With this feature enabled, Windows users will benefit from increased performance and decreased latency, allowing games to run more smoothly with potentially better FPS. This feature allows the GPU to manage its memory rather than relying on the operating system to do it. In addition to DirectX 12 Ultimate, Nvidia GPU users can also enable a new setting introduced in Windows 10 2004, the May 2020 Update, called Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. With this release, users of Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs can now use Microsoft's new DirectX 12 Ultimate graphics API that includes ray tracing, variable rate shading, mesh shading, and sampler feedback technologies Nvidia has released the GeForce Game Ready driver version 451.48 and with it comes highly anticipated support for DirectX 12 support, and the WindGPU Scheduling feature.
